Seven Mind Shapers

Filed under: Sundry — gordongray @ 2:11 pm

Came across a notice in my Inbox this morning that lead me to this page. While it is ‘selling’ a conference, the concept of 7 key Mind Shapers as strategic mountains resonated with me.

Three decades ago, two “generals” in the Christian faith… Loren Cunningham, of Youth With A Mission, and Bill Bright, of Campus Crusade For Christ… were given a simultaneous supernatural message for each other. They both saw 7 strategic mountains, or “mind molders”, that shape the culture of every nation. God told each of them to inform the other that if they could capture these strategic places, they would reap the harvest of nations.

These 7 mountains of societal influence are…

    • Business
    • Government
    • Family
    • Religion
    • Media
    • Education
    • Arts/Entertainment

Missional Effectiveness – 01

Filed under: Effectiveness — gordongray @ 4:54 pm

Just about every christian leader I’ve spoken to wants to be as effective as possible in the mission to which they have been called and into which they are pouring themselves. But most will acknowledge that they and their enterprise are very often not as effective as they feel they should be. Looking around at faith-based enterprises, one sees a small number of highly effective and dynamic enterprises, a larger number of moderately effective enterprises, and the largest group – the less than truly effective enterprises.

Of course one of the issues is how to define ‘missional effectiveness’. All too often we use the “bricks, bums and bucks” measures to compare ourselves with our counterparts. The finer the building(s), the larger the audiences, the bigger the budgets – easy measures to assess and relate to. But do they really equate to ‘missional effectiveness’? (more…)
